In our global age, world affairs councils play an increasingly important role as vehicles for citizen participation and discussion on topics as varied as the environment, education, technology, health, and world trade.

Highlights of VCWA activities:
  • An informative speakers program featuring notables such as Thomas Friedman, New York Times columnist and author; Ambassador Yang of South Korea; Professor William Beeman of Brown University, a leading expert on Iran; and John Holden, President of the U.S.-China Relations Committee.


  • Serving as official host for over 2,500 visitors through the U.S. Department of State International Visitors Program.
  • Special honors including selection as host of the Northeast Regional Conference of the National Council for International Visitors and winning a U.S. State Department Israel-Arab Peace Partner grant.
