Burlington,
called the Queen City at the turn of the last century for
its inspiring setting, welcomes newcomers and locals alike
with mountain sunrises and sunsets and panoramic scenery.
Even lifelong residents know there is a pervasive specialness
to the area that doesn't allow itself to be taken for granted.
Greetings
to those of you new to the area! I am Mike and Burlington
Vermont Homes is about Burlington and the Greater Burlington
area of Chittenden county. They are part and parcel. Burlington
and Lake Champlain are but the centerpieces in a tiara of
mountains and towns to which few places hold a candle. I sell
homes in all area towns, while the area practically sells
itself.
Lake
Champlain, stretching ten miles across from Burlington, has
75 miles of waterfront hugging the western edges of six Chittenden
county towns. The Lake, as it is most often referred to, is
sometimes dubbed the west coast of New England because of
its 120 mile length. Its local bays are home to boating marinas
offering shelter to all manner of watercraft. Burlington rests
on a gentle hillside sloping down to a waterfront area that
is the venue for many annual events.
Please
read Burlington's Town Profile
for glimpses into its founding years and its progression from
small town to Vermont's largest city. By "city" standards
its population of just over 39,000 hardly conjures the state's
center of banking, health care, education and commerce; but
it is just that: small town environment with big city presumptions.
In
Quality of Life you
will read about some of Greater Burlington's events and activities
which attract so many year-round. Something's happening every
month of the year. As a great place to live, Burlington is
nobody's secret. Over the last ten years alone national publications
have bestowed dozens of Accolades
and Awards on Burlington in recognition of its finer
points. To peruse the list is to be awakened to why many are
moving here for relocation and employment, as well as a fantastic
place to study in, live in and retire to. Please read long-serving
Mayor Clavelle's Welcome
to Newcomers. He gives many reasons you may count
yourselves lucky to be a part of America's Dream City!
Accessible
by air, interstate highway, rail, or even by navigating the
lake's waters, the area has long enjoyed a reputation as a
recreational destination, with wide choices in lodging, summer
cottages, fine restaurants, shopping and attractions offering
Vermont hospitality. With scenic vistas as a backdrop everywhere,
water and mountain events and other Recreational
Opportunities are all less than a hour away from your
doorstep.
